Joy’s areas of research include the creation and use of innovative digital technologies in the service of site-specific live and media arts. She was originally brought over from Canada to lead the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television) Interactive Entertainment department, which each year holds the world’s most prestigious awards ceremony to recognise and reward the best of interactive entertainment – from DVDs, CD-ROMs, and websites to computer games and interactive movies. Before joining BAFTA, she worked as Managing Producer of Television and New Media Co-productions at the renowned Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada.

Joy’s work with the SMARTlab team divides into two main roles on the TRUST project. She will serve as Project Manager for the Uk and Irish contributing research and production teams, working closely with Clilly Castiglia in New York to keep the entire team in synch and on schedule. Joy also has a deep long term interest in the welfare of children; she will take management responsibility for the London and Dublin on site visits with kids, and will liaise closely with the researchers and producers working in the hospitals, keeping the data archives of our work and coordinating the publications arising from this project.
